I'm a classical guitarist and music educator based in the Windsor–Essex County region. My teaching is informed by a broad musical background that includes guitar performance, classical and contemporary singing, choir work, songwriting, composition, and music theory.
In addition to guitar, I've studied piano, trumpet, and voice, giving me a practical understanding of how music is learned across different instruments and musical settings. This cross-disciplinary experience allows me to support students not only in guitar study, but also in areas such as school band, choir, and general musicianship.
As a teacher, I focus on helping students develop complete musicianship through strong fundamentals, thoughtful practice habits, and a deeper understanding of the music they play. My goal is to help students grow into confident and independent musicians.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Classical Guitar Performance from Cambrian College in Sudbury, where I studied under Dr. Matthew Gould and graduated on the Dean’s List for all three years of the program. My studies included music theory, music history, conducting, and pedagogy, providing a strong academic and practical foundation for my work as a teacher.
I'm co-founder of Encore Academy of Music & Performing Arts, a private music studio in Windsor that I operate in partnership with internationally recognized soprano and voice instructor Amelia Daigle.
Alongside my work as a guitarist, I'm active as a vocalist and ensemble musician in the region. I previously sang with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Cambrian College Choir, and currently perform with the County Classic Chorale.
I also work professionally in several areas of music production and preparation, including live concert audio recording for events such as the Windsor Multicultural Concert Series at Mackenzie Hall, as well as music engraving and arranging projects for local churches, choirs, and university music students preparing major recital performances.
My approach to teaching is student-centered, influenced by principles found in the Suzuki method and adapted to the goals and learning style of each individual student.
Rather than focusing on technical mastery alone, lessons emphasize understanding how music works. Students explore rhythm, harmony, structure, and tone so they can develop real musicianship and approach new repertoire with confidence.
I want students to understand not just what to play, but why the music works the way it does. My goal is to help students build the skills needed to practice effectively, think like musicians, and continue learning independently over time.
I enjoy working with students of all ages and experience levels, from young beginners starting their first instrument to adult learners returning to music after time away.
Lessons often include custom learning materials and practice strategies tailored to each student. I frequently create arrangements, practice tracks, and notated examples to support the repertoire students are working on. In many cases I also adapt music into formats that are easier to learn from, such as adding tablature to standard notation or reorganizing musical excerpts for practice.
Many of these materials and guides are shared with students through the Resources section of this website, where additional practice tools and learning materials are gradually being compiled.
If you are interested in starting guitar lessons or would like to learn more, feel free to get in touch. I'm happy to answer questions and help you determine whether lessons would be a good fit.
